Summer 2014 Hair Trend Forecast

Summer has landed and the hottest parties await, as Christmas draws near and work wraps up, promising two weeks of heaven and long, balmy nights. Every occasion demands perfect tresses, simple and easy, sophisticated and eye-catching, these trends will be on everybody’s lips by the time we’re through. Take a minute or two before you dance up a storm or relax in the sun, nothing tastes better than self-confidence and nothing can inspire that feel-good edge like a new ‘do, expertly crafted by one of our Brisbane hairdressers.

Trend #5: Nice and Natural

Think loose waves and a romantic feel. Not quite bed-head, but not the coiffed execution one would expect on the red carpet either – perfect for the holiday vibe. To get the look, whip out a good quality straightener and a blow dryer – taking care not to fry your scalp, straighten your hair into sections, paying attention to any frizzy fly away strands. Run a twenty cent sized dollop of de-frizz treatment through your hair for a cleaner look, before creating loose GHD waves at your leisure.

Trend #4: Ombre

You’ve probably noticed a fair bit of two-tone action stalking around your favourite department stores – blondes, browns, reds, the best contenders are those who are half-way to sun kissed already, as light brown or dark blonde hair achieves the dark to light transition with style. Ombre is big with the stars at the moment, adding a touch of girl-next-door to a vroom-vroom outfit.

Trend #3: Drama

When J-Law traded her long locks for a short bob, the internet almost went into overdrive. Suddenly, the innocent though sexy starlet was transformed into a confident, vivacious woman – some people loved it, some hated it, but one things for sure, the chop will reinvigorate your look. And your hair. Say goodbye to split ends, forget about face framing layers, it may be time to let your bob do the talking for you.

Trend #2: Pastels

Remember when a shock of bright pink or blue was all the rage? Well, pastel highlights are making a splash in all the colours of the rainbow. Far from a statement colour, pastels are supposed to blend in and accentuate your hairs natural beauty, the colour of your eyes or your sparkling personality. It’s fun, fashionable and temporary.

Trend #1: The Messy Braid

Throwback to primary school and engineer the perfect messy braid. They’re everywhere, from photo shoots to red carpet walks, even bridesmaids have been rocking the messy look in various boho glam weddings. The key is to not aim for perfection, but texture and a few stray strands for good measure.
